Improving Trauma Care Worldwide

DoD Recommends Immediate Suspension of In-Person STOP THE BLEED Trainings

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Department of Defense recommends immediately discontinuing STOP THE BLEED® training until May 1st, 2020. The DoD will re-evaluate the situation at that time and make further recommendations.

According to the statement released by the DoD on March 20:

“Discontinuing training will help our nation’s urgent need to maintain social distancing, limit COVID-19 spread, and decrease the burden on overtaxed hospitals; thereby preserving their ability to provide healthcare for everyone. The leading cause of death for people 1-44 years old will almost certainly remain trauma after the pandemic passes, and we will encourage training to resume as soon as it is safe. In the meantime, there are many web-based options for  STOP THE BLEED education available and we encourage interested learners to use those resources.”
