ITLS 6th Edition Instructor Update Online now available

The ITLS 6th Edition Instructor Update Online program is now available!
The Instructor Update Online is video-based (MP4 format), available to download for $25. Load the video onto your iPod or other video player for a portable podcast solution. Or watch the video directly on your computer using QuickTime or other video software.
After watching the 1-hour video in its entirety and completing a brief exit survey, current instructors will be recertified and receive a renewed Instructor card. They will also receive a certificate of CECBEMS continuing education credit.

How Does the Program Work?
1. Before purchasing, determine whether you are eligible to recertify as an instructor using the ITLS 6th Edition Instructor Update Online by confirming that you meet all of the eligibility requirements listed below.
2. Use the link above to purchase the program through the ITLS Bookstore online. The cost of the program (including recertification and a new Instructor card upon successful completion of the program) is $25.
When you purchase the ITLS 6th Edition Instructor Update Online, please note that delivery of the file is not instantaneous. You will receive access to the file within 2 business days of purchase/receipt of payment.
3. After purchase, send a copy of your current Instructor card to ITLS International via fax to 630-495-6404 or email to instructor@itrauma.org. If you do not have a hard copy of your card , you may submit a letter of verification from your Chapter Coordinator or Chapter Medical Director as an alternative. This letter must state that you are an approved ITLS Instructor and the Chapter grants permission for you to renew your certification through this program.
4. Within 2 business days of purchase, instructions for accessing the file will be delivered to your email with a link to download the video file in MP4 format. The email will also contain a password necessary to access the file. This password will
be valid and usable for 7 days from the day it is issued via email.
5. Download the video file. Be sure to save the file to your computer instead of opening the file.
Please note that the file size of the video is approximately 405 MB. If you have trouble downloading the file, or know that the file is too large to be downloaded due to your Internet connection, please contact ITLS staff at info@itrauma.org for alternate delivery method options. (Applicable shipping charge may apply.)
6. ITLS recommends importing the file into iTunes or another software program to be loaded onto your iPod or other video player. The video file may also be viewed directly on your computer using QuickTime or other video software. The program does not stream the video in real time from the website.
7. When you have finished watching the video, go online to complete a short exit survey. (A link to the survey appears below and is also given during the video.) The exit survey will capture your demographic and personal information necessary to issue CECBEMS credit and your new Instructor card. Your card and continuing education certificate will be mailed to you within 21 business days of receiving your completed survey.

Eligibility Requirements
- The ITLS 6th Edition Instructor Update Online program is designed as a renewal tool for instructors who have not yet been updated to the changes in the 6th edition ITLS for Prehospital Care Providers manual.
- Candidates must be seeking ITLS Instructor recertification/renewal. This program cannot be used by Providers seeking first-time Instructor certification.
- Candidates must hold a valid ITLS Instructor card with an expiration date of January 1, 2007 or later. If candidates do not possess a hard copy of their card that meets these requirements, they may submit a letter of verification from their Chapter Coordinator or Chapter Medical Director as an alternative. This letter must state that the candidate is an approved ITLS Instructor and the Chapter grants permission for said instructor to renew their certification through this program.
- By purchasing and viewing the program and completing the exit survey, the candidate attests that he/she has met the Chapter’s teaching requirements for Instructor Recertification. Candidates who are uncertain whether they meet their Chapter’s requirements for instructor recertification should contact their Chapter before purchasing this program.

Instructor Recertification issued via the ITLS 6th Edition Instructor Update Online will be rendered invalid and revoked if the Instructor has not fulfilled his/her Chapter teaching requirement(s).
Troubleshooting
- If your download is interrupted:
Simply follow the link in the email and re-enter your password. Passwords may be used multiple times during the 7-day period if downloading is not successfully completed during the first attempt.
- If your password has expired or does not permit entry to the password-protected site: Contact ITLS staff at instructor@itrauma.org or by phone to 888-495-4857 or 630-495-6442, ext. 201 or 205, to request a new password.
- If you have trouble downloading the file due to the file size or your Internet connection:

- File may be delivered in 6 shorter segments (15 to 100 MB per segment) via email

Special Access Textbook Supplement Available for Free Download
ITLS has made available a special supplement to the 2nd edition of the Access textbook published in 2007. The "Awareness to Special Situations" supplement focuses on fixed wing and rotary aircraft.
